Australia is increasingly becoming a multi-cultural country, but still over 90% Caucasian and may offer an alternative place
to study, especially for undegraduates.
The cost of Study is generally lower than that for the USA, and the UK, and slightly higher that Canada's.
Typical Study cost (2006 figures):
- Undergraduate: A10,000– $A17,000
- Postgraduate:$A11,000–$A19,000
Kenyan students can apply for scholarships offered by the Australian Government,
education institutions and a number of other organisations, but note that there is intense competition for the international student scholarships offered in Australia.
As a result, the majority of international students in Australia are full-fee paying students.
Students can generally work half-time (20 hrs per week) during study time and fulltime during holidays. Family and dependants of students may also work, either half-time or
full time. This again may make it a better choice than the US for undergraduates who are cash strapped or need to work and study. Once you complete your studies, it is also much easier to apply for and get
Australian Permanent Residency than it is obtain US Permanent Residency (Green Card).
